Weather Spoon's Bagan: A Must-Try Restaurant in Bagan, Myanmar

I've only been to Bagan for two full days so I haven't really explored it that much. Since I do not have much time to explore the thousands of pagodas in the city I've tried my best to at least spend time scouting for the best restaurants to eat. I do not want to Google so together with my college friend, Evan we wander around Nyaung-U to the Old Bagan to try what's in store for our hungry tummies. While walking in the food strip, Weather Spoon's Bagan caught our attention since it was a full house. We waited for a couple of minutes but it looked like the customers were enjoying their local beer, burgers and pizzas so we decided to look for another restaurant to try.

We went back for dinner but again, Weather Spoon's Bagan was full so we tried another restaurant, again! We thought we'd never had a chance to try their food but luckily the next morning we're able to finally dine at the resto. There were not too many people when we arrived since it was still too early. Most of the visitors were still enjoying the sunrise view of Bagan. It was phenomenal by the way (I'll discuss this is my next post, hahaha)

We tried their Myanmar-style Fish Curry and Myanmar-style beef curry, both were served with plain rice and equally delicious Myanmar-style salad. I paired my beef curry with their Papaya Salad and Evan ordered Tomato Salad. The food were really good. It's too different from the usual curry that I've tried. And the salad? It was delightful!

So, if you are planning to visit Bagan, I highly recommend you eat at Weather Spoon's Bagan. The restaurant is small and cozy and is a good place to meet fellow travelers.

Bangkok's Famous Chicken Rice : Go Ang / Kaiton Pratunam

After enjoying a night in Pattaya, we head back to Bangkok and stayed at Arnoma Grand Bangkok in Pratunam Disctrict - the shopping haven of the city. (Read : Arnoma Grand Bangkok Hotel Review)

We're already starving when we arrived at the hotel but we don't want to eat just anywhere, so, we asked one of Arnoma's staff where we can find the best place to eat nearby. He said we should try Bangkok's Chicken Rice. He added that it's probably the most popular chicken rice in the city and luckily it's just a walking distance from the hotel.

We got really excited. He wrote a sketch in a piece of paper and told us to just show it to any local in the street if we get lost and we should be guided accordingly. True enough, we're kinda lost and showed the paper to a local and he pointed us to the right direction. It seems that everyone in the community knows where this famous chicken rice stall is.

It's a bit early when we arrived at the stall but it's already full packed. We're very lucky to have been able to get the last vacant table. Of course, we ordered their famous chicken rice. After a couple of minutes, our orders were served. We ate it with gusto. I really love chicken rice. The sauce perfectly complements the steamed chicken. It's totally different from the usual sauce I've tried in Singapore. It was good, I mean really good. Nothing fancy and spectacular but it's worth to try. I'd love to go back again when I get back to Bangkok.

Go Ang / Kaiton Pratunam Chicken Rice stall is conveniently located across the road from Platinum Fashion Mall. When you're in the vicinity, you can immediately distinguish the place - lots of people and the pink uniforms of the staff.

Zabadani : A Taste of Middle Eastern Cuisine in Davao City

One of the Must-Try Restaurants in Davao, Zabadani Cafe & Restaurant is one of the few restaurants in the city that offers sumptuous halal foods. It mainly serves cuisines from the Middle East like kebab, kabsa, biryani, pita breads, hummus, and a lot more. Starting December today, December 8, 2015 they will also be serving pizza during their tea time from 2 pm to 5 pm.

During a blogger preview of their new offering, we were able to try their pizzas, pastas and teas as well as their delectable biryani and kabsa. As expected, it was a night full of scrumptious dishes. Starting today, they will be offering three kinds of pizza - Mediterranean pizza, Vegetable Pizza, and my favorite Zabadani Pizza. For as low as P149, you'll get a set of your favorite tea (red, Moroccan mint, herbs and flowers), a slice of pizza and pasta. It's definitely a great value for money!

Mediterranean Pizza P235
As for the tea, we've tried both their Moroccan Mint and Red Tea. They're a perfect match for the pizza and the pasta they served to us. Aside from the tea, we also tried their different coffee blends. I am not a coffee person but I definitely enjoyed their Layered coffee, half and half, and the crowd's favorite - Guatemalan coffee.

Pasta Bologenese
Chicken Samboosak P190
Chili Flakes & Garlic Sauce, a perfect match for their pizza!
Pita Shateerah P105
Zabadani Turn-overs P225
Pesto Pasta
Chicken Shawarma P105

For the main course, we had their best selling Chicken Kabsa and Biryani. We already feasted on their pizza, pasta and shawarma so we're almost full when the kabsa and biryani were served. But, since their kabsa is my favorite, I wasn't able to resist it. I had to try it. It was good. It was really good!

If you love Middle Eastern food or if you're curious about Mediterranean cuisine, I highly recommend you visit Zabadani Cafe at RAMP Bldg, Corner Jacinto Extension & Circumferential Road, Davao City. You may call them at 0917-309-6008. You may also visit their Cotabato Branch at 2nd Floor Annex 1, Mall of Alnor, Sinsuat Ave., Cotabato City.

Where to Eat in Tacurong : 5 Recommended Restaurants in the City of Goodwill

Situated at the heart of South Central Mindanao, Tacurong City sits at the crossroads of Davao-Gensan-Cotabato highways. It is proud of its multicultural society as it is home to migrants from the Islands of Panay and Negros, Ilocos, Cebu as well as Moro tribes such as Maranao, Tausug and Maguindanao. It is home to some delectable Pinoy comfort food that you can enjoy while exploring the city. (Read: Talakudong Festival 2015).

Here is a list of Must-Try Restaurants in Tacurong City.

Palm Bistro
Situated outside the city proper in Barangay Calean, Palm Bistro offers a relaxing ambiance and delectable dishes including some of Ilonggo's favorites. Must-try is their Kansi - a soup dish that can be likened to a combination of bulalo and sinigang. You can also try their baby back ribs and bulalo steak.

Fortune Place
Fortune Place has been in the business for over 40 years. Ask a local and he/she would probably know about this restaurant. I recommend you try their fresh lumpia and palabok. Their serving is huge, be prepared!

El Favoritos
One of the most interesting places to eat in Tacurong City is El Favoritos. They are known for their Native Chicken Bulalo and crispy fried chicken in different sauces. Yes, you read it right, they serve a delicious and peppery Native Chicken Bulalo. It is a must-try when you eat at El Favoritos. The tenderness of the chicken and the savory taste of the native chicken make this dish delectable. Eat it while it's hot.

One of the restaurants we tried when we visited Tacurong City a couple of weeks ago was Dad's Menu. It opened in 2012 and has been positioned itself as one of the must-try restaurants in the city. It offers a wide array of Filipino dishes including kare-kare and a whole lot more. Must-try is their Huatsay soup and their garlic chicken.
